Lancashire’s DCFO @Lancs_FireDCFO #Fundraising In aid of @cumbriacf #charity

Cumbria Community Foundation helps to strengthen communities by using your money to support the work of making grants to local community projects and individuals in need, which was set up in December 2015. The appeal raises funds to directly support individuals and families in hardship and vital community organisations in the areas affected by the winter storms. It is providing urgent help to people in need.

They provide a simplified approach to effective charitable giving. As one of the UK’s leading, accredited community foundations, they have the expertise and local knowledge to help individuals, families, companies, charitable trusts and public sector bodies invest in their communities.

DCFO Justin Johnston – Lancashire’s Deputy Chief Fire Officer.

Lancashire’s Deputy Chief Fire Officer, Justin Johnston already does a lot for charity, with a big Heart of gold. The Floods of 2015 were heart breaking and still affect those of Cumbria that is why Justin is fundraising for the Cumbria Community Foundation by running the Lakeland 50. He has so far raised an amazing £550.00 of his £1,000 target.

Justin joined Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service as Deputy Chief Fire Officer from Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service in October 2012 where he served as Assistant Chief Fire Officer. In his free time, Justin enjoys fell and trail running and in 2012 he completed the Saunders Lake District Mountain Marathon.

Justin says:

It is with some trepidation that I will be running the Lakeland 50. This is a 50 mile race across the mountains of the Lake District and I am aiming to complete it in around 15 hours of the 24hr limit.

The race will take place on the 30th to the 31st of July and I will be running for all those affected by the floods in 2015.

Having experienced the floods as an operational fire service Commander in both Cumbria and Lancashire I know only too well the impact for local people I will be very grateful for anything you are able to donate – Thank you
